Ozone Destruction for EB Irradiation Equipment at a Korean Tire Manufacturer

Industry: Tire Manufacturing
Application: EB Irradiation Equipment
Exhaust Airflow: 1,400 m³/h
Inlet Ozone Concentration: 40–60 ppm
Start-up: September 2024

Project Background

Electron beam (EB) irradiation equipment generates ozone during operation. For industrial production, ozone-containing exhaust needs to be treated before discharge to meet environmental requirements.

A Korean tire manufacturer required an ozone treatment system for its EB irradiation equipment. The system was designed for an exhaust airflow of approximately 1,400 m³/h, with an inlet ozone concentration of 40–60 ppm.

Ozone Treatment Solution

Trusty supplied an ozone destruction system with our Ozone Removal Filter as the core treatment component.

The catalyst-coated filter media decomposes ozone under normal operating conditions, providing a practical solution for treating ozone-containing industrial exhaust without high-temperature combustion.

The system was installed and put into operation in September 2024. Since then, it has been used for the EB irradiation exhaust treatment process, with the treated exhaust meeting the required discharge standard.

Long-Term Operation

The system has now been in operation for approximately two years.

Long-term operation is an important consideration for EB ozone treatment. In addition to ozone concentration, factors such as exhaust airflow, pressure drop, discharge requirements and filter service life need to be considered when selecting an ozone removal system.

This project demonstrates the application of Trusty’s Ozone Removal Filter technology in the tire manufacturing industry and provides a reference for similar EB irradiation applications.

Trusty provides ozone removal and ozone destruction solutions for industrial exhaust applications.
